Celebrating too much of freedom

Of course, half truths are more dangerous than plane lies and that is what Sanjay Kak’s Jashn-e-Azadi explains so lucidly but painfully, Rashneek Kher reviews….

What else explains Kashmiris being slaves for the last 800 years? Sanjay Kak does mention our slavery of 800 years in his movie, what he however chooses not to mention is, who were the masters? Who enslaved us. He wouldn’t say? Half truths as they say can be more dangerous than complete lies. Pyare Hatash’s verses have been shown in a manner where an ordinary non Kashmiri viewer is made to believe as if he is also a protagonist of the Azadi. The translation of the couplet from Rajatarangni was wrong and again misappropriated.

refer to an article written by Film Maker Sanjay Kak , where he had vented out his frustation at“ROOTS IN KASHMIR” , Rashneek had few words for him :-

We weren’t surprised and shocked to read what a film maker had to write on his  blog about a “group of people”who have made it a mission to follow the film and stop it from circulating. What wishful thinking?Alas delusions of megalomania cant come in better ways than this.Dont we all know these wannabe Noam Chomskys are in constant fear of argument thats why they dont publish comments that arent really favourable to them in their blog.

Now,who is this small group of people and are they really following the movie as much as the film maker belives. The Film maker is only and we use the word only a FILM MAKER.Roots in Kashmir activists are not a small group, one…they are more than 700 young Kashmiri Pandits across the globe(where there Mujahideen tormentors threw them),two they are exceutives, teachers, art historians and of course students…who have much more to do to earn their livelihood than to simply follow this biased documentary.

Now the film maker belives we are net detectives, net bullies etc etc….is he so much in awe of us that he has even lost what is called the dignified way of argument. When an RIK activist wrote a review on his movie recently,he had a volley of invectives in his mail written to him…Clearly a case where he is finding it hard to argue…

Now now,we are speading lies, because we are bringing to fore truths which the film maker obviously wants to hide…they make him uncomfortable. When we sometimes bring up the issue of Kashmiri Pandits killed,he belives we are keeping the pot boiling yet when he shows graveyards and asks an old man to find his son’s
grave,it is sacred..

I really wonder which Pandits has the movie maker spoken to…we know thousands and none but me he has spoken to…He must have spoken to his alter egos ..there are a couple like him…but someone says..One sparrow does not make a spring…he surely has met one of those sparrows. At no point in time, did we try to stop the movie from circulating…we are not like those terrorists(whom he calls Saheb)who kill because someone doesnt fall in line with their way of thinking. He showed it in places like Pune and Nashik where there are sizeable Pandit populations, yet he went on showing his Band-Pather.

Whatever he shows in his magnum opus is his problem…we will continue to take him on…in non violent and peace loving ways…unlike his Sahebs…who can silence you with a bullet Since is so awe-struck he should be allowed to say anything, write anything….after all he is terrorised..isnt he….

All we can say is

Buth humko kahen kaafir
Allah ki marzi hai

Also in response “soulinexile” asks Sanjay Kak 5 questions which we hope he cares to reply if he has answers !

* How can you talk of violence in Kashmir, without talking in as much detail about half-a-million populace impacted by the violence perpetrated by the Jehadi machinery?
* How can you talk of the death and destruction without talking of the thousands who were kicked out of their homes?
* How can you talk of Human Rights – totally ignoring the human rights of the minority totally trampled upon just because they belonged to a different religion?
* How can you talk of self-determination totally ignoring the plight of the thousands who got uprooted purely because their self-determination was to stick to their Indian identity?
* How can you talk of Jashn-e-Azadi and ignore the dard of being be-ghar (homeless) of the Pandits?

Also Sanjay Kak is crying hoarse that his movie has been gagged, and talks of freedom of expression and no censorship. At the same time he also does not allow the comments on his blog which doesn’t suit him. look below for the screenshot of couple of my comments which he has not allowed…..what were wrong in these comments ……so much double standards Sanjay Kak.

And this one too…Sanjay Kak has also not allowed this comment on his Blog …..and he talks of free press and no censor…Wonder how he would feel when he knows he has been exposed….

Appeal – Human Rights Day (10th Dec.,06)

•October 13, 2006 • 11 Comments

Brijlal and Choti always knew they would meet death someday but death by being chopped to pieces on a saw-mill after being tied to jeep and dragged around in their ancestral village, sends a chill down anyone’s spine. Anyone’s but the ones who murdered them and might still be roaming free, the government who made no efforts to catch the murderers, and us who never really raised our voices so high for the authorities to sit up, listen and take action. Hundreds of our kith and kin were murdered in cold blood just because they stood as symbols of something called
India. Desecrated places of worship, burnt houses and the utter disgrace of being homeless and rootless …….have we become stoic to happenings in our motherland and ….with us…..

10th December is the day when the world observes Human Rights Day every year and yet not even lip service is paid to the Kashmir Pandit community. If we don’t want to be involved in the murder of our own community members, the desecration of our images of worship and root for our rootlessness- we will assemble at Jantar Mantar at 3PM to raise our voices and make the deaf authorities and the intelligentsia of this nation, notice the ethnic cleansing that has largely gone un-noticed. We appeal to all the members of our community to please be present at the venue to lend force to the movement.
